About this book
Best-sellers for over thirty years, Lemon-Aid guides are unlike any other auto books on the market. Their main objective is to inform and protect consumers in an industry known for its dishonesty, where exaggerated claims remain unchanged. This brand new edition - the first in the series that covers used cars, trucks, "and" SUVs - is packed with insider tips to help you select a used vehicle that is as safe and as cheap as you want. It covers everything from the latest GM cutbacks, "secret warranties," to average seller markups. Plus, there are tons of useful tips on when you should buy, sell, or hold, and which models make the best $1,000-$3,000 "beaters." Filled with summaries of memos and service bulletins, this book is an easy-read guaranteed to teach you a thing or two (or three, or four ...) and more about used vehicles in Canada.

About this book
This illustrated history chronicles electric and hybrid cars from the late 19th century to today's fuel cell and plug-in automobiles. It describes the politics, technology, marketing strategies, and environmental issues that have impacted electric and hybrid cars' research and development. The important marketing shift from a "woman's car" to "going green" is discussed. Milestone projects and technologies such as early batteries, hydrogen and bio-mass fuel cells, the upsurge of hybrid vehicles, and the various regulations and market forces that have shaped the industry are also covered.

    Perfect fit and features

I installed this into a 2013 Tahoe and all stock features worked as advertised, using provided cabling. Looks seamlessly stock, but has better features than Stock GM Navigation system. I had to splice into my factory rear camera at the rear-view mirror connector (Pins 6-white and 7-Blue) to use the Head Unit's RCA REAR-VIEW camera connection. You can also purchase a USB adapter to connect the New Navigation USB to the Truck USB cable for $3 on Amazon which will allow the USB connection in the console to communicate to your new Navigation unit for playing video/audio media. Maps were updated through May-2012 and can be updated through a micro-SD slot in the front. The menus are very simple to use and response between all Input/Outputs Navigation/XM-radio/DVD/Aux is extremely fast. I would highly recommend this system to anyone not wanted to shell out what the dealer is wanting you to pay for the GM Navigation System.Update to others: The Unit comes very with little... 5/5 D. Worth the price

Installed in 2012 Traverse 1LT.Pros - I have installed a lot of aftermarket audio and video systems in a many vehicles and I have to say this is one of the most well integrated units I have seen. Installation is straight forward, mostly plug and play. Works well with steering wheel controls (with one noted exception below), much improved sound quality over stock unit. Is everything it claims to be. Ipod, DVD, NAV, Backup Camera, CD, AM/FM all good. (Have not used AUX video for rear entertainment)Cons - Radio reception could stand to be improved. Loses stations pretty quick on road trips. (In town is OK) Backup camera video cable needs to be about 2 ft longer. Adapter needed for FM antenna. Wish you could use the button on the steering wheel to answer the phone. (button mutes the radio only and is only useful when making outgoing calls). To answer phone you must tap the screen. Installation and setup instructions not clear at all, but the wiring... 5/5 R. Michael Tuten - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Suburban Upgrade

I recently installed this head unit in my 2013 Suburban. I ordered the plastic tools to help with removing the trim around the radio which helped a great deal since the clips can be difficult to remove, and the plastic trim is not very thick. The harnesses were simple to match up. I did have to make sure that I connected the pink wire for the Back LCD. I also made sure to order the USB 2.0 A Male to Mini-5 Female Adapter to be able to connect the USB from the head unit to the USB harness in the vehicle. I ran the antenna for the GPS to the stock location under the dash panel near the defrost vents. I decided to use the Bluetooth with the head unit since I wanted to have the ability to use the touch screen Bluetooth that is included with the head unit since it gives you more options than the factory Bluetooth. Excellent For GM Cars with older ONSTAR Units

My wife drives a 2007 Suburban and we had been trying to figure out how to connect her phone to the ONSTAR system. We had a free year of Onstar through our Insurance and while we had it, I bought 'minutes' from GM so she could use the phone system built into the car. But we really wanted to use our own cell phones and the ONSTAR unit in my wifes car did not have the Bluetooth option. I spent several months talking to dealers, ONSTAR, and a GM Rep to see if her unit could be upgraded. I offered to pay for the unit and for two years of ONSTAR if they would just upgrade the unit but was repeatedly told "NO". I know it could be done as I had read stories of owners getting newer units from salvage and doing so.While ONSTAR was nice when we had it, there was no way I was going to pay for it if we could not use our phones. At that point I began looking for systems that worked with ONSTAR that would allow me to use my own cell phone, there are none!I then looked... 5/5 Larry Carnes - See all my reviews, September 27, 2012

    Easily installed and works great!

I installed this in a 2005 Chevy Avalanche. I had been previously using a Plantronics Bluetooth and wanted to install a car kit. I have never used OnStar and didn't want a subscription to something just to have hands free over the stereo speakers. This system is the perfect conversion. In a 2005 Avalanche, open the glove box and empty the contents. With slight pressure, press in on the right side of the glove box plastic to release the catch (no tools required). Inside the glove box opening in the upper left is the silver OnStar box. Unplug the two connectors and plug them into the Costar BlueSTAR unit. Tuck the BlueSTAR up out of the way so you can close the glove box and your finished. This seriously took me about 3 minutes, mostly because there isn't a lot of slack in the wires to the connectors. The pairing was simple and is now automatic when I start the truck (like uConnect in my wife's Jeep Grand Cherokee). Connection is established and terminated with the... 5/5 T. I was gonna give this rating 4 stars instead of 5 stars only because the remote doesn't work. I don't know if it's the battery in the remote or if it's the remote itself. Will be contacting the proper parties when I change the battery. Then I was gonna give it 3 stars instead of 4 because the dials were acting weird, but I simply hit the very small reset button on the unit to get it to act normal again. Now this unit looks AMAZINGLY cool! It has a motorized faceplate which has an optional detachable feature. The picture shown on this site doesn't do it much justice. The blue lights are much cooler, cleaner, and deeper, ESPECIALLY at night. And when the unit is off the knob turns red giving off a nice Red Halo. Before I hooked my system up I had factory speakers in the car. This radio brought them to LIFE! good not outstanding

So i've had the dual xdm7615 for a little over a year now. I really like it, it plays back really well, it has many audio features such as loud on/off, 5 eq settings, 12 fm and am settings for radio, cd/mp3 cd playback, one feature that i really like because you have 20 cds on one, especially if you don't have an ipod or mp3 player, there is a also a auxiliary jack that you are able to plug an mp3 player or iPod into which is nice. It also looks really nice, all the buttons and volume wheel are illuminated blue but its not obnoxiously bright and the display is clear when its open. Now that i've given my pros here are my cons:The fact that it IS moveable poses problems. sometimes the door doesn't open all the way or close all the way, i've had to push it along to get it to open and close recently. depending on the angle of your dash, the display is either clearly visible or not at all because of the angle of the movable door. I had this in my buick, which... 4/5 BarkFu - See all my reviews This review is from: Dual XDM7615 AM/FM/CD Motor,4x50W, MP3, WMA, c3.5 Input, F/R/S, Remote, SWI (Electronics) So i've had the dual xdm7615 for a little over a year now. Amazing Value & GREAT product!!!!

I researched a replacement radio for my 2011 GMC Sierra and wanted to upgrade to an all in one unit. I wanted BlueTooth, GPS, DVD, and still have the OEM steering equipment and controls work. I looked for several weeks and checked with local dealers then, I cam across this unit. I was hesitant to order since I had never heard of this brand or knew anyone that has owned one. After reading the great reviews on the other vehicle units this company sales, I took the leap. The unit is AMAZING! It is so simple to install and actually is just PLUG N PLAY. ALL of my factory OEM controls work exactly the same, the GPS is spot on with location and directions and has MILLIONS of POI's. The DVD player has great quality and is very useful on road trips. The sound output is great and works well with my after market subs. I can not say enough about this item. Good enough, considering the price...

This unit is the same as the one sold for Chevrolet (I know this because it's the same model number and I put this into a Silverado).Considering the price, this unit is a good buy (assuming it's reliable). The Advent OGM1 or the Rosen (brand) option are going to be better user interface-wise, but probably not $500+ better. All of my steering controls work fine and my factory bluetooth continued to work (including muting the stereo). The internal speaker amplifier in this unit is notably more powerful than the stock (non-Bose) head unit that it replaced. Annoyingly there's an option on this for "CDC" (meaning CD Changer) but it does not have an internal or external CD changer. You actually play CD's using the DVD function which is just a bit half-baked, in my opinion. The harness includes a USB cable that you'll need to get an adapter for to connect to the factory USB port, if you have it (see other reviews). It also has a proprietary iPhone connection... 3/5 wildcatgoal (Minneapolis, MN) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Worth the money, but there are some twists.

I thought about getting a dash mounted GPS unit and plugging it in, but that would have cost a couple hundred bucks. An OEM nav unit was about 1600 bucks. For $599, you can't go wrong with a built in Nav unit, and this one is well worth the money. Screen is big and bright, maps are readable at a glance. This one works well, and does everything as advertised. I put it in my 2013 Silverado- not on the list but works perfectly including the steering wheel controls. The hardest part of the install was getting the trim panel of (i broke one tab) and getting all of the cables to go out of the way so the unit could slide in. Install is super easy- just read the instructions online.Nav unit works well to find directions and get where I am going. The install manual references a Nav unit manual- I asked SimpleSoft about it a couple weeks ago on their forum and via email, and still have no answer. It is annoying that it uses metric units of measurement on all directions- I can guess... 5/5 S. Farris (St. Louis) - See all my reviews, January 2, 2013

    As advertised

I used this interface on my 2005 Silverado **WITH the Bose system AND Onstar**, and I soldered and heatshrinked all of my connections between this interface and my aftermarket Pioneer AVH-X4500BT wiring harness.Wiring of the harness looks overwhelming, but it really is not that bad. However, unless Axxess has updated their manual recently, (it was not on their paper manual or their online manual during my stereo install on October 16, 2013), there are a couple of wires on their harness that they left out and it made initial harness setup a bit more confusing. The first item is on the 16 pin harness, their manual states to connect the red wire to the aftermarket radio ignition wire. If you look at the 16 pin harness, you'll notice that there is not one, but TWO identical red wires. I called Axxess support and they informed me to connect both red wires together, and connect that to your radio's ignition wire. The 2nd item(s) is on the 24 pin harness... 4/5 Zax (Montana) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Works good, directions not helpful

First of all this is a necessity for installing a car stereo anymore. With all the various configurations in newer cars you don't want to go in and just start cutting plugs and wires. More specifically, with the Bose Lux models of GM trucks (mine is a 03 Denali, but I think Z71's and Denalis have this setup) it is required. The way the factory amps and head units talk on these vehicles, you need this adapter to wedge an aftermarket stereo into the equation. If you want to go fully aftermarket, you'll need to bypass the factory amps and subwoofer with new wiring, and install all new speakers. That said, now that it's installed it works great. The gain knob on mine increases and decreases the stereo volume nicely, though the chime knob doesn't seem to change the volume of the "you left your keys in" chime at all. Maybe I'm listening for the wrong chimes.Be aware that the instructions for this unit are very lacking. There are no photos or diagrams, and the... 4/5 dodgeballs (Central Valley, Cali) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?)
