Saved my transmission and thousands of $$

My 2000 Accord had started slipping at a bit over 100,000 miles, especially in 1st and 2nd gear. It ended up triggering the engine warning light. Took it into the dealership and they said the torque converter was going and that I needed to replace the transmission with a rebuilt to the tune of $4,500.I did some research online and found out that Honda has had many problems with their post year 2000 transmissions in several vehicles, including the Accord. But several people had replaced their transmission fluid with Red Line D4 ATF and also installed an inline Magnefine AFT filter. (Honda's ATF filter is internal to the transmission and is not changeable.) Seeing that many others had good results, I figured the $50-60 for the price of an full ATF change it was worth a try.Immediately after doing a full fluid replacement (and I mean the very first drive) I noticed a dramatic improvement in the shifting. I almost couldn't not feel the car shift at all anymore and... 5/5 Amazon Customer (California) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Honda Perfect with Redline D4 ATF

5/5 Gotwheels - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Red Line 30504-12PK D4 Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) - 1 Quart, (Pack of 12) (Automotive) The Redline D4 ATF is highly regarded by Honda enthusiasts for their fragile automatic transmissions (at least generation 6/7). The Redline ATF is not readily found in my locale, so Amazon was a good choice, although still expensive. The Redline D4 is held as a quality synthetic and is supposed to be more stable than the Honda Z1 or new DW-1 ATFs. I performed the Honda flush - three drain/refill cycles and seemed to notice a more smooth action. This vehicle has a good many miles and hopefully will provide continued reliable service.Remember: the Honda V6 has a fill port (17mm capscrew) on the drivers side top of transmission, with ATF stamped on the screw head. Four cylinder ATF addition is done through the dip stick port. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , May 31, 2011

    Top quality

Originally ordered a B&M cooler for my 2012 Honda Odyssey, but when that arrived the build quality(made in Mexico) was terrible and it was returned. You can look up that review for more info. I ordered this Hayden and hoped for the best. It arrived today, and WOW!!! awesome quality. Made in Australia!!!! NOT Mexico, China, Taiwan, Indonesia, etc., etc.. Perfectly aligned fins, soldered / brazed perfectly straight, lays perfectly flat. Cooling fins between plated are micro-louvered and look to be the best in the industry for cooling airflow. If you are a gizmo nut like me, wait till you see them. They look amazing. Nothing like the poorly designed fins on the B&M. I trust this design 100% with no reservations at all. I will never use another brand of cooler. Also, The B&M came with 3/8 barb ends similar to this, but the B&M came with 3/8 hose. It was NOT a snug fit and appeared to be a source for future leaks, even with clamps. This Hayden comes with 11/32 Gates hose. Not only a top... 5/5 J YO - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Works great, good value, seems high quality

Great value. This is one of those items that seems like it should cost a whole lot more than it does. Everything in the kit seems very high quality. As others have said, you will need about double the tubing that comes with this kit, so pick some up ahead of time. Made in Australia. If anything I would go back and buy the even bigger cooler. This is cheap insurance for 700r4 transmissions that do NOT like heat at all. Picture is on the front of a Chevy K10. I had to drill one hole in the cooler end and used the two existing holes in the center support (I tapped those holes and used some hex bolts). You will still have to make a bracket for the other side to hold it steady or use a few of the zip tie things.Update: Using a temp gun, this cooler drops the temps about 30 degrees just sitting there (without airflow going down the road) I'm sure it cols even better while running, even on a hot day after driving my tans temp (at the cooler) isnt much above 110... 5/5 John L - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) 5/5 Strike Commando (Fo'Realville, WA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: ATP Automotive AT-202 ATF Protectant Synthetic Transmission Additive (Automotive) I'm not exactly a mechanical idiot when it comes to cars (I'm not expert either), but I know that most of those $15-$50 engine super-amazing treatments are complete BS placebos just there to make you feel better. So, I'm usually skeptical about pouring something into your car to solve a problem. But I'll be damned; this stuff actually works, and quickly to boot! I'm telling you, it's like magical transmission juice. Maybe it won't work for everyone, but I slogged in half a bottle into my jerky 1989 busted up beast and the next morning, the tranny ran like a champ!YMMV, but I'd say it's worth a shot for the price. 2/5 Martin G. - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: ATP Automotive AT-202 ATF Protectant Synthetic Transmission Additive (Automotive) I bought a case of this stuff and it made most of the cars shift hard. We are a used car dealer and decided to put this in the transmissions of all the cars based on a friends recommendation. It may work if the car has a problem, but it seemed to create a problem in cars that didn't have one. Now we know, don't fix things that aren't broken. I wish I'd had this years ago.

I've owned my 02 Acura RSX Type S since new in August 2001. It is still the best and most fun car I've ever owned in my 50 years of driving. The only complaint I've ever had was shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. The speed of the car, whether sedate or aggressive didn't seem to matter. The ratio jump between 1st and 2nd gears is substantial and it was always clunky, sometimes grinding. Down shifting was never an issue from 3rd to 2nd.In the last few years I've tried several things to improve the shifting. I started with a short throw shift lever from B&M which seemed to help, but in reality caused the shift cable end to bend, because of the design of the lever. What had helped was the removal of the rubber bushings that mounted the shifter housing to the floor of the car, the B&M kit included aluminum bushings to replace the originals. Mounting the housing solid took out unnecessary movement and wasted motion. This past February I swapped out the entire... 5/5 Mike Satke - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great Transmission Fluid For NV3550

5/5 Brian - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Red Line (50204) SAE 75W80 API GL-4 Manual Transmission and Transaxle Lubricant - 1 Quart (Automotive) I've got a Jeep TJ Wrangler with the NV3550. It is very picky of what kind of fluid it uses. The options are: Mopar Fluid, Pennzoil Synchromesh, Royal Purple SynchrMAX, Amsoil Synchromesh, and Redline MTL. I've tried all these fluids in my NV3500 and I've had the best results with Red Line MTL. The Red Line fluid really smooths shifts out and makes everything less notchy. If I had to rank all the fluids here's how I'd rank them:1. Redline MTL2. Amsoil Synchromesh (very close second)3. Royal Purple Synchromax (2nd gear was very notchy)4. Mopar Fluid (Nothing special and overpriced. Shift feel was acceptable)5. Pennzoil Synchromesh (Shifting through all gears was rough. Worse out of all 5)I'd recommend the Redline MTL for your NV3550. I'm going to either stick with MTL or Amsoil for future oil changes. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , May 16, 2014
