My 2000 Accord had started slipping at a bit over 100,000 miles, especially in 1st and 2nd gear. It ended up triggering the engine warning light. Took it into the dealership and they said the torque converter was going and that I needed to replace the transmission with a rebuilt to the tune of $4,500.I did some research online and found out that Honda has had many problems with their post year 2000 transmissions in several vehicles, including the Accord. But several people had replaced their transmission fluid with Red Line D4 ATF and also installed an inline Magnefine AFT filter. (Honda's ATF filter is internal to the transmission and is not changeable.) Seeing that many others had good results, I figured the $50-60 for the price of an full ATF change it was worth a try.Immediately after doing a full fluid replacement (and I mean the very first drive) I noticed a dramatic improvement in the shifting. This review is from: ATP AT-202 Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid Protectant (Automotive) I'm not exactly a mechanical idiot when it comes to cars (I'm not expert either), but I know that most of those $15-$50 engine super-amazing treatments are complete BS placebos just there to make you feel better. So, I'm usually skeptical about pouring something into your car to solve a problem. But I'll be damned; this stuff actually works, and quickly to boot! I'm telling you, it's like magical transmission juice. Maybe it won't work for everyone, but I slogged in half a bottle into my jerky 1989 busted up beast and the next morning, the tranny ran like a champ!YMMV, but I'd say it's worth a shot for the price. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , May 15, 2013

I wish I'd had this years ago.

I've owned my 02 Acura RSX Type S since new in August 2001. It is still the best and most fun car I've ever owned in my 50 years of driving. The only complaint I've ever had was shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. The speed of the car, whether sedate or aggressive didn't seem to matter. The ratio jump between 1st and 2nd gears is substantial and it was always clunky, sometimes grinding. Down shifting was never an issue from 3rd to 2nd.In the last few years I've tried several things to improve the shifting. I started with a short throw shift lever from B&M which seemed to help, but in reality caused the shift cable end to bend, because of the design of the lever. What had helped was the removal of the rubber bushings that mounted the shifter housing to the floor of the car, the B&M kit included aluminum bushings to replace the originals. Mounting the housing solid took out unnecessary movement and wasted motion. This past February I swapped out the entire... 5/5 Mike Satke - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Red Line (50204) SAE 75W80 API GL-4 Manual Transmission and Transaxle Lubricant - 1 Quart (Automotive) I have a Jeep with the AX-15 gearbox with the familiar difficulty in shifting into 1st and 2nd. Replacing the existing fluid with this product has resulted in slightly smoother shifting. It won't cure the fact that the synchronizers are wearing out eventually, but it's made things smoother for the time being. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , March 23, 2010

    Top quality

Originally ordered a B&M cooler for my 2012 Honda Odyssey, but when that arrived the build quality(made in Mexico) was terrible and it was returned. You can look up that review for more info. I ordered this Hayden and hoped for the best. It arrived today, and WOW!!! awesome quality. Made in Australia!!!! NOT Mexico, China, Taiwan, Indonesia, etc., etc.. Perfectly aligned fins, soldered / brazed perfectly straight, lays perfectly flat. Cooling fins between plated are micro-louvered and look to be the best in the industry for cooling airflow. If you are a gizmo nut like me, wait till you see them. They look amazing. Nothing like the poorly designed fins on the B&M. I trust this design 100% with no reservations at all. I will never use another brand of cooler. Also, The B&M came with 3/8 barb ends similar to this, but the B&M came with 3/8 hose. It was NOT a snug fit and appeared to be a source for future leaks, even with clamps. This Hayden comes with 11/32 Gates hose. 0 5/5 G-Dub - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Lubegard 63010 Platinum Universal ATF Protectant, 10 oz. (Automotive) I learned about this product from the guys and the old-and-well-established transmission shop when getting a Volvo transmission rebuilt after 200,000 miles. They said they never send out a transmission without this product in it. So, I bought a bottle from them and put it in my Silverado pickup ('95 4L60E, 240,000 mi). Wow! It stays in overdrive much longer before downshifting, cruises better, and seems to consume a little less gasoline. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , April 29, 2013

0 5/5 Car Geek - See all my reviews Bought a 2005 Highlander with 100k. It drove fine with a slight lurch when I was feathering the throttle as it was going into 1st. I did a fluid exchange with Mobil 3309 (t-IV type), a new filter, and a bottle of Lubegard Platinum. This vehicle now shifts as smooth as glass; absolutely amazing! 0 4/5 Mr. Value Conscious (Charlotte, NC USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Hayden Automotive 676 Rapid-Cool Plate and Fin Transmission Cooler (Automotive) I installed it at 100K to give the transmission longer life (hopefully) along with a fully fluid exchange. Had to install using plastic tabs and in front of condenser because there were no other brackets on the van that I could mount it to and I did not want to take the time to fab up a separate bracket. I also installed an in-line filter with this. Time will tell if this was worth it since I don't do any towing yet so heat has not been a problem yet. Installation was pretty straightforward but you want to go on-line and find the technician diagram for the transmission cooler lines so that you get the correct one the first try. I mounted in series with the stock cooler and after the stock cooler before going through the filter and then to the tranny. No leaks and works fine so far. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , May 27, 2014

    Light and sturdy but......

I ordered this because a customer specifically wants this one. It showed up in a flimsy package with a short hose and some condenser mounting plastic ties, missing the fitting shown in the picture. It is light and sturdy. However, I wouldn't recommend this comparing to the B&M 70268, compatible in size & price. 1st, the B&M comes with all kinds of fitting and mounting materials including screws, strips and metal braces which you can mount it any way, any where you like. I don't like mounting it directly on the condenser which may cause damage down the road and sometime you have to remove the radiator to access. The B&M body is heaver and sturdier then the Hayden. As for functionality, I believe the B&M provides better fluid flow since there are 37 bigger duct fins vs 30 thin ones and the heavier aluminum provide better heat dissipation which also contributes to better cooling. You have to spend more on mounting material to make up for the missing and short of. I believe the price... 2/5 Bruce S. Wyen (Southern State) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?)
