This review is from: Red Line (50204) SAE 75W80 API GL-4 Manual Transmission and Transaxle Lubricant - 1 Quart (Automotive) I have a Jeep with the AX-15 gearbox with the familiar difficulty in shifting into 1st and 2nd. Replacing the existing fluid with this product has resulted in slightly smoother shifting. It won't cure the fact that the synchronizers are wearing out eventually, but it's made things smoother for the time being. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , March 23, 2010

I wish I'd had this years ago.

I've owned my 02 Acura RSX Type S since new in August 2001. It is still the best and most fun car I've ever owned in my 50 years of driving. The only complaint I've ever had was shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. The speed of the car, whether sedate or aggressive didn't seem to matter. The ratio jump between 1st and 2nd gears is substantial and it was always clunky, sometimes grinding. Down shifting was never an issue from 3rd to 2nd.In the last few years I've tried several things to improve the shifting. I started with a short throw shift lever from B&M which seemed to help, but in reality caused the shift cable end to bend, because of the design of the lever. What had helped was the removal of the rubber bushings that mounted the shifter housing to the floor of the car, the B&M kit included aluminum bushings to replace the originals. Mounting the housing solid took out unnecessary movement and wasted motion. This past February I swapped out the entire... 5/5 Mike Satke - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Can't beat is for the money and saved transmission!

0 5/5 Christy's Bunch "Christy" (South Carolina) - See all my reviews This review is from: Hayden Automotive 402 Ultra-Cool Tube and Fin Transmission Cooler (Automotive) Well I did alot of shopping before deciding to buy this cooler from Amazon. One major consideration was price of course. You can't get it any cheaper anywhere!! Trust me I have checked. Also this one fits perfect for my 2002 Honda Odyssey which is prone to have transmission failure and did at 84,000 miles and now have 101,000 and I just bought it so I want to last a very long time. After installing it inconjunction with my flushed oem cooler I noticed that the line temperature was much cooler after driving than without the cooler. So that alone will help save the transmission. The kit was complete for my setup and was very easy to install.I decided to spray mine lightly with flat black paint so that it does not showup through the bumper.I am a BMW master technician and I would for sure recommend this cooler for its build quality, function, and price. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , April 3, 2009

    Excellent fluid cooler

0 4/5 Roger W. (Orlando, FL) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Hayden Automotive 402 Ultra-Cool Tube and Fin Transmission Cooler (Automotive) This fluid cooler replaced a liquid-to-liquid power steering cooler on my SCCA competition car that kept melting down power steering racks and pumps. The power steering pump now runs cooler and doesn't fail due to the use of the Hayden 402 fluid-to-air cooler. This item installed in about 30 minutes by extending the old cooler lines and mounting the cooler in a well-ventilated area. I used the supplied piece of extension hose and the special zip-ties in the kit.My only complaint is that the kit lacks hose extension barbs and/or hose clamps. In many cases, and mine in particular, my fluid hoses had to be extended to reach where the new cooler was mounted. Adding these items to the kit would be very helpful, otherwise you've got to stop at your local hardware store. I'm giving it four stars for this, because you can't really install the cooler w/o these items.Otherwise, it is excellent, looks good and out-performs the factory cooler by leaps and bounds. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , June 4, 2011

    Cools well

0 5/5 Nightfire - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Hayden Automotive 402 Ultra-Cool Tube and Fin Transmission Cooler (Automotive) I bought this for my parents '04 Suburban in hopes of delaying a transmission overhaul due to over heating.(This cooler KIT is not made for the Suburban, it was just cheaper then the model that is. The adapter it comes with is too small to fit the radiator of the Suburban. The cooler itself is universal.) It seems to be doing a very good job. The Suburban is not shifting as hard any more, nor is it delaying to shift. I have it rigged to cool after the cooler in the radiator (which also cools the engine/engine oil) and my engine temp has dropped about 10-15 degrees since installing. I do not have a temp gauge on my transmission to give an exact temp for the tranny, but the vehicle has one for the engine oil. A very nice cooler over all. I researched it and found that it is rated at 16,000 GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight)which is more then needed to cool a Suburban with a 5.3L V8. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , July 7, 2011

    Easy to install....

0 5/5 Michael (Dust in the wind.....) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Hayden Automotive 512 High Performance Transmission Cooler (Automotive) This auxiliary transmission cooler went on my 2001 Nissan Maxima with just an hours time (I'm not a mechanic) and ordinary tools. I live in Scottsdale so the built in trans cooler is way to small for 115 plus deg weather that occurs around here. My tranny was over heating anytime over 108 or when the car is run a bit hard with the crazy traffic around here. So far no trans problems on running hard after installation!I will update as the weather turns hot. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , April 17, 2012

Added complication with removeable hose barb fittings-Makes it harder for no good reason.

I would not buy again. Why?Easy: See how the hoses mount to the actual transmission cooler? You have to screw a fitting into the inlet & outlet, then put the hose over the barb on the fitting. Other transmission coolers you simply place the hose over the inlet&outlet and clamp them down. This one adds an extra step, and an extra place to potentially cause a leak. For mine in particular, the way the unit is painted (or rubber coated or?) it had some left in the threads, and the fittings to screw in were not easy to get in properly, they are very easy to cross-thread.I got everything set up and ready to go, and after starting my vehicle I had to take one of the hoses back off and reinstall one of the hose barbs because it leaked the 1st time. This would not have happened with the other style coolers. In my humble opinion it makes it unnecessarily more difficult to install, and I see no useable function or benefit to having these fittings.
