0 5/5 Greg S. (West Coast USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Hayden Automotive 401 Ultra-Cool Tube and Fin Transmission Cooler (Automotive) No leaks, fairly easy to install. Not as easy as the instructions suggest but that is because I am, as my wife says, anal.Instructions say to install after the radiator cooler but common sense and other users suggest that it should go before the radiator cooler. That way the trans heat is removed before it adds to the radiator load and the radiator can heat cold ATF to operating temp.It will be a few months before I tow my trailer again and put that load on the trans. I will update this review at that time if problems exist. Until then you can assume all is well. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 6, 2014

Mounted it right on the radiator for good air flow. No more worrying about overheating power steering fluid on the track, or those times when you find yourself alone on those curveacious 2 lane highways. Get your pig in shape! Saved my transmission and thousands of $$

My 2000 Accord had started slipping at a bit over 100,000 miles, especially in 1st and 2nd gear. It ended up triggering the engine warning light. Took it into the dealership and they said the torque converter was going and that I needed to replace the transmission with a rebuilt to the tune of $4,500.I did some research online and found out that Honda has had many problems with their post year 2000 transmissions in several vehicles, including the Accord. But several people had replaced their transmission fluid with Red Line D4 ATF and also installed an inline Magnefine AFT filter. (Honda's ATF filter is internal to the transmission and is not changeable.) Seeing that many others had good results, I figured the $50-60 for the price of an full ATF change it was worth a try.Immediately after doing a full fluid replacement (and I mean the very first drive) I noticed a dramatic improvement in the shifting. Honda Perfect with Redline D4 ATF

0 5/5 Gotwheels - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Red Line 30504-12PK D4 Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) - 1 Quart, (Pack of 12) (Automotive) The Redline D4 ATF is highly regarded by Honda enthusiasts for their fragile automatic transmissions (at least generation 6/7). The Redline ATF is not readily found in my locale, so Amazon was a good choice, although still expensive. The Redline D4 is held as a quality synthetic and is supposed to be more stable than the Honda Z1 or new DW-1 ATFs. I performed the Honda flush - three drain/refill cycles and seemed to notice a more smooth action. This vehicle has a good many miles and hopefully will provide continued reliable service.Remember: the Honda V6 has a fill port (17mm capscrew) on the drivers side top of transmission, with ATF stamped on the screw head. Four cylinder ATF addition is done through the dip stick port. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , May 31, 2011

Works Fine - A couple of hints:

0 4/5 CapitalTruck - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Hayden Automotive 677 Rapid-Cool Plate and Fin Transmission Cooler (Automotive) I bought this for my 2013 Silverado. It fit just fine. However, if you are installing this on a GMT-800 or GMT-900 (most recent series of Silverado/Sierra, through 2013) I would strongly recommend that you purchase two of the Hayden 106 hoses which are 3/8 inch diameter and fit the OEM lines much better than the included 11/32 line and also purchase the Hayden 397 adapter which will allow perfect installation into GM radiators without any fuss. I bolted this cooler in place, I didn't rely on the chintzy plastic zip-tie things. After installation I had to add just shy of one quart additional transmission fluid to accommodate the newly added cooler and lines. If you don't purchase the additional two lines (Hayden 106) and you're installing on a GMT-800 or GMT-900 you absolutely wont have enough hose if you rely exclusively on what comes in this package. And, as stated above, the included hose is too narrow for this application. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , July 7, 2013

    No more erratic shifting!!!

I purchased this item to use on my 98 Saturn SL2. The trans would shift fine when cold. When it heated up, there would be a shudder when it shifted into second gear, and it would hesitate when going into reverse. When it did go into reverse, it would drop into gear harder than normal. Those issues have disappeared since installing this trans cooler. Looking at it now, the bigger 678 model cooler would have fit but the 677 is doing the job just fine. The hose that comes in the kit is approx. 4 feet long and as other reviewers have said, you will most likely have to purchase more hose. The ID of the supplied hose is 11/32. The fitting on the trans cooler is 3/8. I believe this was a compromise taking a 5/16 fitting into consideration. The stock fittings on the SL2 are 5/16. I hack sawed the crimps off of the stock trans cooler line and reused the fittings. The 11/32 hose is big enough to fit over the 3/8 trans cooler fittings, and small enough to be clamped onto the 5/16... 5/5 kegler280 (Ewa Beach, HI.) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Red Line (50204) SAE 75W80 API GL-4 Manual Transmission and Transaxle Lubricant - 1 Quart (Automotive) I have a Jeep with the AX-15 gearbox with the familiar difficulty in shifting into 1st and 2nd. Replacing the existing fluid with this product has resulted in slightly smoother shifting. It won't cure the fact that the synchronizers are wearing out eventually, but it's made things smoother for the time being. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , March 23, 2010

I wish I'd had this years ago.

I've owned my 02 Acura RSX Type S since new in August 2001. It is still the best and most fun car I've ever owned in my 50 years of driving. The only complaint I've ever had was shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. The speed of the car, whether sedate or aggressive didn't seem to matter. The ratio jump between 1st and 2nd gears is substantial and it was always clunky, sometimes grinding. Down shifting was never an issue from 3rd to 2nd.In the last few years I've tried several things to improve the shifting. I started with a short throw shift lever from B&M which seemed to help, but in reality caused the shift cable end to bend, because of the design of the lever. What had helped was the removal of the rubber bushings that mounted the shifter housing to the floor of the car, the B&M kit included aluminum bushings to replace the originals. Mounting the housing solid took out unnecessary movement and wasted motion. This past February I swapped out the entire... 5/5 Mike Satke - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Originally ordered a B&M cooler for my 2012 Honda Odyssey, but when that arrived the build quality(made in Mexico) was terrible and it was returned. You can look up that review for more info. I ordered this Hayden and hoped for the best. It arrived today, and WOW!!! awesome quality. Made in Australia!!!! NOT Mexico, China, Taiwan, Indonesia, etc., etc.. Perfectly aligned fins, soldered / brazed perfectly straight, lays perfectly flat. Cooling fins between plated are micro-louvered and look to be the best in the industry for cooling airflow. If you are a gizmo nut like me, wait till you see them. They look amazing. Nothing like the poorly designed fins on the B&M. I trust this design 100% with no reservations at all. I will never use another brand of cooler. Also, The B&M came with 3/8 barb ends similar to this, but the B&M came with 3/8 hose. It was NOT a snug fit and appeared to be a source for future leaks, even with clamps. This Hayden comes with 11/32 Gates hose.
