Ignition lock will not release

Vauxhall Astra Mk4 wont start?

Really no idea whats going on here.. 4 Months ago I purchased a Mark 4 (2001) Y Reg, Astra. 1.8 16V SRi. Beautiful car.. Runs perfectly - never had a single problem with it.. Sometimes - it will be a little slugish on the ignition turn.. i.e - sounds like its struggling to start.. But after 2 sluggish turns - it starts no problem.. As of late - it has cut itself out a few times - it seems to be when the cars on a vertical slope pointing upwards.. But nothing to concern me about. Give it a little rev and it ticks over perfectly. Sometimes - the dash will 'flicker'.. I.e - the petrol gauge needle will fly up - back down and then to the proper reading.. I noticed also when I put my Hazards on the other day - that the lights on the dashboard dim and flicker when the indicator lights flash simultaneously.. Well. Tonight - I pull over into a layby just to grab some eats before heading off again.. Turned the ignition off - left the sidelights on.. not a problem usually. Went to start the car again and noticed the lights - headlights and fog lights were producing hardly any light.. Went to start the car and nothing! It ticks once, then all the lights go off, inside and on the dash - and nothing.. Release key and start process over.. Sometimes it'll flash the Garage + Spanner symbol after attempting to turn - but not every time.. Never had any problems - and ideas? Im presuming this is electrical (yay).. I wouldnt of presumed it was the Battery as Radio / Dash is getting power.. Had troubles locking it! Had to do that manually.. Serviced not long ago.. Any ideas is gratefully appreciated.. Gonna get RAC out tommorow if cant figure it out.. As its still in the layby :( Battery - Starter Motor - Alternator> No warning lights on.

get some nail varnish remover and a good rag , stick it down your carb and CLEAN all the muck out......carefuly...............worked fine for me

this is a voltage issue and we need to look at connections and wiring condition especially at battery. battery may also be on way out ( fairly likely) if all connection to battery are clean and good. check battery out ,possibly best to replace anyway. ( I would) if we still have same issues then it will be a poor connections along system and needs to be traced eg bulkhead connecting block.

Battery and or alternator. I would go for the alternator being faulty but if the battery is over 3 years or so old it will have taken that out as well.

03 Renault Laguna 2 2000 initale card and immobiliser?

Old and only! key card failed again after a couple of repairs. symptom: flashing immob red light flashed more rapidly, would not turn on ignition/release steering lock/disarm immobiliser.Doors locked during attempt to start car would not unlock.due to faulty card. door opened from inside car triggered alarm which would not turn off due to faulty card. Battery disconnected at neg terminal to kill hazard lights.Siren disconnected (unplugged from back of it)to stop racket bothering neighbours. New card ordered car transported to dealers.New card programmed to car BUT. They say steering lock fault £400+ to fix please. Empty pockets and suspition of dealers say car back on transporter to my drive. Notice that now when old card inserted immob light goes from slow flashing without key normal i think, to solid where as before it flashed more rapid does exactly the same with new card also should the alarm siren have been plugged back in before programming new key cos it wasnt. neither card will operate door locks the only thing that happens now when either key is inserted is the red light goes from slow flash to steady. Any help would be greatly appreciated wife ready to torch car.

Key cards fail after a time.Other faults on these cars are uch and ucc body control.Card readers sometimes fail and relays.Get someone to enter key and move and tap relays in fusebox in bonnet and check all fuses. We are a company in gb and mend these all the time,if you are lucky it may be a relay or fuse, but can be expensive if uch fails

0 5/5 A Herald - See all my reviews This review is from: Pyle PWD701 4-Button Remote Door Lock Vehicle Security System (Electronics) I am overall pleased with the system. The alarm is loud and the remotes work well controlling the system. I did not attempt the install as my friend is an audio installer and gave me a good deal. Even with his experience the install took around four hours so i would recommend an install by a pro. For an after market Alarm system with the ability to "add on" it is very good. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , May 30, 2012

0 4/5 Ram finatic - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Pyle PWD701 4-Button Remote Door Lock Vehicle Security System (Electronics) i found it really easy to install even @ night with a flashlight! the directions were easy to understand & there wasnt an overbearing amount of wiring. lets see how well it holds up :)UPDATE!!! well, after a couple months of being under the dash of my roughly driven 4x4 truck, it has slid down behind my clutch pedal, & lets just say the plastic box wasnt put together with anything more then a tiney plastic clip or two... had to clip it back together the best i could. anyway, it works pretty good, wish the paint on the key fob buttons was a lil thicker cause its already wearing off. & another thing is i wish the shock sensor was a lil more... SENSITIVE, might just be that i strapped it to the steering collum (one of the placees it says u can mount it). but for the most part, its a good product. i mean where else are u gonna get somthing like this for this price? 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , October 26, 2012

Works as advertised. Harder than advertised to install.

I received this unit for Christmas, and installed it in my Ford Explorer. The instructions are not as direct as they could be, but the video helps organize things. I needed to call tech support for a question/clarification and after a fairly long wait on hold (two days after Christmas so I expected that) I got the info I needed by a cheerful tech. The biggest problems with any of these self-installed units (this brand or others) are (1) people who don't have any electrical experience or tools, and (2) installation on cars that have difficult to access wiring (most). The latter can make the difference between a relatively easy or relatively hard installation. The kit electronics appear good for this type of item. All parts (and a small installation tool kit) are included - - except for any small relays that may be necessary for some door locks, security bypasses, and some dome light activiation situations. They are not needed on every vehicle, but many. A couple should be included... 4/5 Craig V. I. RS 1100 Remote Starter

Once installation was complete, the unit worked perfectly. However, the installation was more difficult than it needed to be.First, the installation instruction referred to a WHITE wire that was to be connected to a bypass module. This part of the instruction was vague in a couple of ways. 1) It did not specify what WHITE wire it was referring to while other areas of the instruction were quite specific (i.e. - BLACK wire with the Blue stripe on the 16-pin harness). 2) It said that the WHITE wire was to be connected to the BLUE wire on the bypass module. However, since there are mutliple different bypass modules available using a variety of color codes, this step created confusion.Second, when it came time to connect the various plugs to the starter unit, there was no mention of a need to initialize the unit by stepping on the brake pedal and pressing the start button on the remote. Without this information, when I plugged in the unit, it began a repetitive... 3/5 M. Garnett - See all my reviews, September 11, 2007

So far, a real remote starter

The item arrived promptly and was in an excellent condition (sent by Speed Shop). The unit has been working fine for about a month now. I installed it myself and the installation was not so complicated (if you HAVE experience and read the instructions carefully). The range of this remote starter has surpassed my expectations, although the distance might not be as the manufacturer claims. You can be two or three blocks away and still use the remote successfully. In open space it works from a much longer distance of course. The features of the unit are abundant; I only needed the remote start and keyless entry. It has the option to switch between automatic and manual transmission cars. Recently I had to relocate the antenna away from the metal body of the car because the range of operation dropped substantially. I is much better now and I hope it stays like so. The remotes that come with the system are very nice. However, they look very vulnerable. They should be protected by a case or... 5/5 Rainbow - See all my reviews This review is from: V-Series Car Remote Engine Start with 2 LCD Remotes Long Range Security Two Way (Electronics) The item arrived promptly and was in an excellent condition (sent by Speed Shop).
