Best decision I have made in a while

I bought a 2011 Chevy Silverado and only got one key with the truck so instead of paying $30-$50 or even the ridiculous price the dealer wanted to charge for a new key I purchased 2 of these key blanks and had a local key store cut these keys using my original key I already had. Once the keys were cut to my key I looked online and learned how to program them to my truck and that only took about 3 minutes and was very easy to do myself. The keys work perfectly and look identical to my OEM key in every possible way and work just as well too. This is a "no brainer" get this key like I did and have it cut at your local key shop and save yourself a TON of money. The way I programmed my key was to take my original key and put it in the ignition of my truck, turn the key to the on position for about 10 seconds (until all the dash lights go out) then turn the key off and remove it. Take the new key within 30 seconds and put it in the ignition and turn it to the on position... 5/5 timdtoolman - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) 0 5/5 Mike (Brandon, FL) - See all my reviews This review is from: 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 Chevrolet Silverado Blank Transponder Ignition Key (DIY Programming Requires 1 working key) Super easy to program this new key! Just follow the instructions included with the key. After you get a hardware store to cut the key for you (I took mine to Ace Hardware), just follow the 4 steps below.Step 1 - Insert the original, already programed key in the ignition and start the engine.Step 2 - After the engine has started, wait about 10 seconds for all the information lights to go out, then turn the key to off and remove the key.Step 3 - Insert the key to be programed and turn it to the on position within 10 seconds of removing the original key.Step 4 - The security light will turn off once the new key has been programed. Mine took about 5 or 6 seconds to program. That's all there is to it. My new key works perfectly, and all it cost was about $14. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 14, 2014

Of course the guy at the hardware store did not want to cut it and said it wouldnt work, that i have to buy one of their keys and they would program it for 80$. After i finally got him to cut it (2$) follow the instructions and it works great!!!.. What a scam these keys are Just like the HDMI cables were 100$ when they came out you cant tell the diff in a five dollar cable. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , April 29, 2012

This review is from: KeylessOption Replacement Remote Head Ignition Key Keyless Entry Combo Compatible with KOBDT04A OHT692427AA I lost my key so I ordered this. Right before the key came, I found my key in a pocket. The new key came and it looks just like the original. My husband followed the directions that came with the key to program it. It worked, it unlocks the car and trunk. We took the key to a locksmith and they charged $2 to cut the key. They said they would program the key for $50. We said we already did it. The guy said, "It will not start the car, I have to do it because it has to be programmed by me, I have thousands of dollars worth of equipment to do it right." My husband said "No, I programmed the key." The guy said "How did you do it?" My husband said "It will cost you $50 for me to tell you." The guy said "Well it won't start your car, it has to be done by a professional." We walked out and put the key in the car and it started. Great deal for $28. Now I have a spare key in case I do lose it again. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , January 15, 2015

Works with 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. Cheap, yet quality product!!

I haven't had these for very long, but they are both working perfectly for my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. You need 2 working key FOBs to program these. I popped them open and the battery seems like its more sturdy than my old key (P/N 56038768AD). 2 things that are noticeably different from my old key: 1) the buttons don't "click" like they did on the old key, and 2) there is no screw holding the key fob together. Seems like not having a screw won't be that problematic though, because they are held together pretty well by the rubber inside. I have ordered some Silicon key covers to hold them together, just in case however. You need to get these cut before programming the key FOBs. I took mine to Home Depot, and the guy there was working a retirement job, put my old key in the machine, then the new key, and cut them free of charge!!All in all, these were way cheaper than buying them elsewhere, and I am glad I took a risk and saved some $$$ for... 5/5 Schnook - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) 0 4/5 Tim (Shelbyville, KY) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: KeylessOption Replacement Remote Head Ignition Key Keyless Entry Combo Compatible with OHT692427AA Contacted a professional locksmith. He was able to cut the key and program it. I did not have two working keys, so I had to go that route. Note to all, if you have your key programmed, make sure you take all working keys with you to the locksmith. They will all be re-programmed at the same time. This remote works well. Saved some $ versus getting one at the dealer. I only spent $50 bucks to get the key cut and programmed. To purchase the key and my dealership, the key is $150 bucks, programming another $40 or so (which I think is CRAZY for an 8 year old vehicle). 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , October 28, 2014

Worked perfectly for my 2013 Jeep Wrangler. I bought two and my dealer programmed them for $40. Normally $40 for one, they did a BOGO for me. So it cost me about $110 for two keys. Would have cost $227 at the dealer for ONE key! Funny side note. After all this I found my lost key. lol 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , August 13, 2014
