Learning about the Value of a Tuned Ignition System

“Most often,” states Jamie Hanson, the other half of this two-brother team, “when a bike comes in spitting and coughing with an ignition problem, a coil might be shot, a plug fouled, or, and this happens a lot, the guy might have gotten a little... A handful of upgrade components together with a “dyno tune” within the ignition repays significantly, and the more modified the motor, say the guys at SPP, the more essential that ignition upgrade becomes. Maybe some hot new coils, definitely an adjustable control module, fine quality plug cables, and performance quality spark plugs to match, that makes up the parts list. Speed’s utilizes the plug-in Daytona Twin Tee modules on those motorcycles and with the Twin Tee program, adjusts the ignition exactly as it’ll be completed with a Power Commander, straight down to selecting the multi-spark settings and single-or... Along with tailor made calibration, enhancements to the coils, spark plugs, and plug wires make sense, too. When the pressure goes up the same is true for the the temperature, and since spark plugs must eliminate heat, a colder heat range spark plug might be needed. With a fuel-injected motorcycle that custom made ignition tweaks, adjusting the advance and timing can be achieved utilizing the same Power Commander that the fuel delivery. Matching these hi-po coils using the most reliable set of low-resistance cables you can buy is yet another excellent move. From a carburetor as well as a set of two injectors, a well calibrated fuel mixture won’t present the whole performance it’s capable of if it hasn’t been fired at right moment along with a strong ignition. That optimized fuel mixture demands an equally optimized ignition system and pro tuners definitely know this. Neglect the ignition, especially the advance curve, and you’ll be leaving a lot of the rewards from any performance pipes, pistons, cams, and heads that you may possibly currently have directly on the table. At Speed’s Performance Plus (SPP) an ignition upgrade is definitely part of the plan. But first come the basics, those common ignition problems that surface from time to time. Though one plug is firing the charge in the cylinder ready for it, the other one is sparking off within the cylinder that’s not ready for its power stroke. If any residual fuel charge is left in the cylinder, which is often the outcome, it’ll also be ignited. Hard copper-core wires, however, aren’t often best with those adjustable ignition units. Neglect the ignition step in a performance tune and you’re missing out on a lot. High-output coils, supplying up to 45,000 volts, will definitely alllow for a smoother-running, easier-starting motor. Iridium tipped plugs, such as the NGK Iridium IXs SPP utilizes, have been created specifically for the performance enthusiast. An excellent substitute, savvy and modern tuners have realized, is a spiral-core style spark plug cable, easily available. Modified engines, specifically when the pressure have been bumped up, will often require a differ from the stock spark plug specs.

I have a 1999 bmw 328i sedan e46 with 212,000 miles. Ive been trying to pinpoint why my car was misfiring. All cylinders were misfiring at random. Ive changed the spark plugs, fuel rail, fuel filter, thermostat, new MAF sensor new upper and lower intake boots, cleaned the IAC valve, checked my disa valve and all new CCV system with all new hoses. still misfires. Bought these ignition coils, cleared my codes, and i havent had my check engine light come back on yet. i only drove for about 5 miles but when i clear my codes the check engine light usually comes back on before i pull out my driveway so i know these coils helped. Install was about 15 maybe 20 mins (i knew what i was doing so it was quick). I wish the seller packaged the product a little better but for the money i cant complain. Everything came in the mail as shown in the picture. (6 coils with boots) Obviously they arent the same quality as OEM but they get the job done. I noticed very quickly the difference in quality of... 5/5 Joseph - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) It uses 115 VAC (60 Hz) with an electro-magnetically operated interrupter buzzer, high voltage capacitors, inductive coil transformer, and a monopolar high frequency transformer generator to do the trick. 11" high, with a 6" sq.
x 2" high protective housing for the generator. Includes accessories and instruction booklet with 19 experiments. Pretty amazing. But please, this is not a toy and should be used only under adult supervision.
50,000 Volts That's what you get with this tesla coil!! Brand new, commercial item, great for classroom demonstrations and experiments. The 50,000 volt capacity generator radiates high frequency energy through space... enough to light fluorescent tubes two feet away.

    A great deal

First, if you are purchasing this for a 2005 F-150 or Eddie Bauer Expedition with a 3V Triton V-8, these are the correct coils. The Amazon selector would have you purchase the 2V version for the Expedition (don't ask me how I know this!). The two valve version is 140032-8 2. Thanks to Amazon's fantastic return policy, it was easy cheesy, lemon squeezy to get the correct coils. Again, these coils are for the 3V Triton engine. As for the coils, they are obviously high quality and they perform as well or better than the originals. I will tell you, though, that I have not tested the removed originals to determine if they are, indeed, bad. My Expedition started "bumping" while easing uphill and I first thought it was a transmission issue. Turns out, it was a tune-up issue. I got over 100,000 miles on the original coils and plugs, so I'm not complaining. The biggest reason, beyond age, to replace the coils when replacing the plugs are that you DON'T want to go through that... 5/5 UK Wildcats Fan!!! better than paying dealer $300 to replace 1

0 5/5 Sasko "SASKO" (Buffalo, NY) - See all my reviews This review is from: ACCEL 140033-8 Ignition SuperCoil Set (Pack of 8) (Automotive) After replacing the plugs on my 3 valve things were good. Few months latter a miss when cold at 110,000 mi.,then went away when warmed up . This was the same issue 18 months ago when I took it to the dealer to figure out at 88,000 mi.. Weak coil was the problem only noticeable when cold. Dropped truck off saturday ,picked up monday and $300 later ok. When I saw these coils for that money why not replace all of them and be rid of this issue for a while. Have 2,000 mi. on them and truck returned to window sticker miles per gallon 15/19 mpg. Just remember the last digit 140033 is for a 3 valve, 140032 is for a 2 valve & 140034 is for a 4 valve shows it right on the box of 8 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , October 25, 2011

0 5/5 Charlie (New York) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: ACCEL 140033-8 Ignition SuperCoil Set (Pack of 8) (Automotive) My 2007 F-150 was misfiring when in OD while doing between 40-50 mph. At first I thought it was an overdrive issue but after researching it, it seemed a misfire was the cause, either by a defective COP or the spark jumping outside the rubber boot to the nearby cylinder head. I replaced all eight of the COP's with the Accel ones. They were less expensive than OEM COP's and corrected the problem. I remembered the Accel name from the muscle car days of the 70's so had some confidence with the brand. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 10, 2012
