This review is from: Flowmaster 953047 Super 40 Muffler - 3.00 Center IN / 3.00 Offset OUT - Aggressive Sound (Automotive) I wanted to give my truck a little sound and possibly improve my fuel mileage, but did not want to spend $400 on duals. Its a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado with a 5.3L. I used the stock tailpipe and purchased two adapters that were 3" OD to 2 3/4"ID and a 12" piece of 3" OD pipe I cut down in length and some clamps. This muffer is shorter than the factory muffler. It fits real good to the factory pipes like that. It sounds good, not very loud at idle, just a little tone and driving down the road you can hear it in the cab a little but not annoying. The gas mileage has been a couple MPG better. I was afraid it was going to be too loud but its not, so I am glad I went with this one and not a quieter series. I am sure it would be louder with duals, but I am fine with this and think it sounds good. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , October 6, 2012

This review is from: Flowmaster 953047 Super 40 Muffler - 3.00 Center IN / 3.00 Offset OUT - Aggressive Sound (Automotive) We purchased this Super40 series Flowmaster for our 2006 Tahoe and it produces a nice growl that is a little different from the original 40 I have on our 2001 Tahoe in that the interior resonance is cut in half.I enjoy the in your face growl of the original 40 on mine and it made sense to go with the super 40on hers having kids in the truck all the time, but come summer its windows down listening to it roar.Never the less another awsome product from Flowmaster, never have and never will be disappointed with their product.Flowmaster has always been king of keeping V8 muscle sounding/feeling american.Brent 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , February 12, 2012

The sound is very aggressive and I loved it for a while but eventually it was a little to intrusive in the cab and I opted for a quiter muffler. Loved the product though. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , October 15, 2011

0 4/5 Rick - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Flowmaster 817511 Axle-back System 409S - Dual Rear Exit - Outlaw - Aggressive Sound (Automotive) Sounds really good. Not as loud as others have said. My car is a automatic so the drone is not really bad. You have a little drone at 80-85 mph. But again not as bad as other reviews from different people. Installtion took less than an hour and fitment was real good. If you want a good throaty exhaust then this one is perfect. For the price and sound this exhaust is the best bang for the buck. Really throaty and it is load but not overwhelming by no means. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , June 11, 2012

    Incredible Tone and Performance-SEE UPDATE

I was originally hesitant to buy the Outlaws and was leaning towards the American Thunder Classics because people kept saying how loud the Outlaws were and clips I listened to supported that; I also had a CAI and tune on the car which had already enhanced the exhaust note so that raised more concern that it would be overly loud. But, at the end of the day I figured I'd rather it be a bit too loud then be a bit too quiet and be disappointed. And that was the right decision. The Outlaws are loud-though to my ear IN the car they don't sound that loud-don't get me wrong, from stop up to pick your RPM, if you're accelerating you hear these and you hear them good. At idle you hear a decent grumble at all times which is exactly what I wanted yet once you're not accelerating any longer all you hear is a light exhaust note in the car (and I mean LIGHT); the only time these "drone" at crusing speeds, which I happen to like BTW, is at 80 mph and above or approx 2300 RPMs and up... 5/5 Will W. Low RPM Rumble

0 5/5 Maiki - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Flowmaster 817511 Axle-back System 409S - Dual Rear Exit - Outlaw - Aggressive Sound (Automotive) I recently returned the Pypebombs and received the Outlaws yesterday and bolted them on last night. I am loving it. Low tone rumble when cruising and a kick in the face when I open it up. Precisely what I was looking for. I didn't have to tweak anything around to make sure both sides were centered out of the exits. So much easier than the pypes were.and so much better quality in the FlowMaster brand name. Took me less than one hour with literally with one arm (Shoulder surgery recently on left side) but I hope that paints a clear picture of the ease the Flowmasters provided. The sound is awesome and not obnoxious like the pypes were for me. If you disagree, read the reasons why I returned the pypes on my Pypes pypebomb review. How about a manly tone and rumble when cruising or idling rather than just a freeflow of s*** flying everywhere when idling or cruising? Outlaws is the way to go. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , May 17, 2013

Flowmaster 300c Amercican Thunder (hemi 5.7)

After many months of hard research and hearing sound sample on You Tube videos, I opted for American Thunder series.I was intially set to buy the Corsa Sport but then changed by mind for the Corsa Extreme. I also looked at the Borla and also Magnaflow exhausts but the sound did not do the HEMI any justise. I was basically after a sound that was a true match for V8 engine and the sound must be MUSCLE SOUND and not DEAFENING. These are the only words that I could use to describe what I was looking for.So it was a decision between either the Flowmaster Super 44 (17405) or Flowamster 40 Series (17480), or Corsa Extreme, or Corsa Sport.THE CHOICE WAS MADE! It was the Flowmaster 40 Series (17480). I decided to go for this because did not want the Force 2 resonators as it dampened the V8 note with the Super 44 muflers. So I went for the over sized Super 40 series, with the larger casing it was the right choice because there is no resonance, even when the... 5/5 Dan 1L23 - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Flowmaster 817480 Cat-back System 409S - Dual Rear Exit - American Thunder - Aggressive Sound (Automotive) I'm giving this exhaust five stars with the caveat that it must be understood what its function is: to be the loudest, throatiest exhaust you can have for your LX platform V8. The guy who rated it one star is correct; there is a drone that is pretty obnoxious from approximately 2000-2500 RPMs. And it is even worse when it's operating on four cylinders. If you can, it's probably worth it to disable the MDS that Chrysler 300Cs and Charger RTs have from the factory. It probably doesn't save you much gas anyway since the four operating cylinders have to push and pull the pistons (and all the other moving parts) of non-operating ones around during this time. I know that can't be too efficient. In my experience (I've had this exhaust on my 08 Charger RT for about seven months)the exhaust sounds fine right at 65 mph. Any faster and I experience the drone. At 85 mph (when the engine speeds are higher), the drone goes away and all you can hear is the good sound of the... This review is from: Flowmaster 817480 Cat-back System 409S - Dual Rear Exit - American Thunder - Aggressive Sound (Automotive) I own a 07 dodge charger r/t, the stock exhaust wasn't doing my car any justice so i researched exhuast systems across the web and forums. I settled with the flowmaster american thunder kit. Pretty good exhaust and not to mention the lower price on amazon than the main flowmaster website. It only took the local muffler shop an hour to intall, bolted on for now. Haven't noticed any problems yet. The drone in the interior cabin is not that bad coming from the 40's series mufflers. Going to switch those out with the super 44's in the near future. 0 5/5 Just the truth - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Flowmaster 817479 Cat-back System 409S - Dual Rear Exit - American Thunder - Aggressive Sound (Automotive) I purchased this product for $469, far below the pricing I seen on other websites. The installation was a breeze. It literally only took a hour or so and that is removing the old system. Tips for installation, is to make sure you tighten it extremely tight. I didn't tighten it enough at first and compression sent my exhaust into my rear differential. That being said the exhaust sounds great. The cabin noise is loud from 0 to 40 mph and then drops off until 7o or so. At first I was honestly annoyed by the cabin noise, but it has seem to quiet substantially or maybe I just went deaf, not sure. Overall I love the system and would highly recommend it for the price. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , June 17, 2012

This review is from: Flowmaster 817479 Cat-back System 409S - Dual Rear Exit - American Thunder - Aggressive Sound (Automotive) I researched quite a few exhaust systems, on Youtube and elsewhere, before finally choosing this particular system. The most helpful Youtube video I watched was the one titled "Jay Leno's Challenger SRT8 with a Flowmaster American Thunder Catback Exhaust".Install was fairly quick and it sounds great!! Since installing this system, I have received a lot of positive feedback from people that hear me coming. It makes my 2014 Dodge Challenger R/T sound like a real muscle car now, and not an overpowered vacuum cleaner like it did with the stock exhaust :)There was a bit of interior drone initially, but it has since subsided after a few hundred miles and the computer system has accommodated for it. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , January 27, 2014

    Best bang for your $$

I installed American Thunder's on my 2011 Challenger R/T Classic (5.7 Hemi) and the sound is amazing. Loud, but not to the point of being obnoxious. When I start my car it simply puts a smile on your face hearing the car "come alive". Normal driving around you get a nice throaty growl that begs you to give it some more gas so it can really let loose. When you punch the gas it responds with a very satisfying roar and maintains that throughout the power band.Yes, you do have drone with these around 2k RPM range that is kinda annoying. But, there really are no aftermarket exhausts out there that give you this kind of sound that don't have some kind of drone associated with it. This is old school rumble for around $500, anything else on the market that even comes close to this great sound will cost you well over $1,000.As a bonus, I get a noticeable bump in throttle response (more HP) and about 3-4 more MPG's....my next purchase will be a Stack Performance... 5/5 PacMan "Steve-H" - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) loud LOUD and LOUD!!!! (not like that's a bad thing....)

Fit and finish could be better, parts don't fit perfectly together, but, enough where it'll get the job done. Of note, you'll want some deep sockets. Takes a good amount of effort to get everything to line up and look like it was meant to be there. Sound...start up is perfect. Idle is perfect, driving around town is fine. Jumping on it is LOUD!!!Does drone around the 1700RPM area, which is right around where one is cruising at 65-75mph, but I kind of like it - and it's not OMG loud - do have to crank up the radio to cover it up since it's kind of lower-rumble and that doesn't get covered up as well. Can be in the too-loud category, but. I was after the 'bit too loud' kind of kit. For me, it is in the "almost too loud" category, if that makes sense. Going under large overpasses, it can get "top-fuel" in tone if you romp on it. Probably would set off car alarms in a parking garages if one jumps on it.
