We bought this for my children as a gift. It’s sturdy and built well and they DO like it quite a bit, but I don’t think I can bring myself to spend close to $10 on ONE small train again.Of course when we bought this for them we had to make sure the track we got was compatible with Thomas so we got which actually works quite well with the Thomas trains. We ALSO had to make sure Thomas had some friends to pull so we got him this from the same company just to make sure everything was compatible. Luckily everything worked together (thank God.)In all we spent about $70 on my child’s gift which is a little more than we wanted to... 4/5 Top 10 Reviewer - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) 5/5 Tiffany L. - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Fisher-Price Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway Thomas (Toy) I bought this train for my little boy last Christmas. I searched high and low to find prices fit for an active little boy who has a bad habit of (not intentionally) ruining the majority of toys. This product has withstood the tests placed on it by an active 3 year old with great skill! It is still played with daily, doesn't chip, crack, peel, or any of the things you would expect from a toy bought at this price. So much cheaper than buying in a store! I would definitely purchase this again! Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , October 3, 2016

Cute. Well made. Sturdy. Nice details.

5/5 Amazon Customer (NY, USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Fisher-Price Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway Thomas (Toy) Very well made. It's small. (I uploaded a picture of it on a one dollar bill for scale). The face and the wheels are made of plastic. But seems sturdy.Nice details on the body, although a four year old would quickly notice few details missing (namely the whistle and the round headlight in front).Love the fact that the details are not of individual stickers that are easy to peel. Certainly made to last.Bought some more (the Annie and Clarabel set) so Thomas can have something to pull. They connect to each other by magnet.Nice and safe. Satisfied., March 20, 2016

    The original Railway Series stories!

My 4-year-old son loves all things Thomas, has an extensive railway layout, numerous books, videos, etc. Nevertheless, he has been absolutely spellbound by the original Railway Series stories, which I grew up with as a child (I was not aware that the original stories were still in print or I probably would have ordered this book sooner!) They are quite different from the modern-day adaptations, in that they give equal weight to the people -- drivers, firemen, guards, station masters and passengers -- who are involved with the railway, not just the engines. The imaginary stories are more rooted in reality and thus seem more believable. My only complaint is that language has been changed, mainly to appeal to an American audience, though I'm not sure that's really necessary. It's true, Sir Topham Hatt is no longer the Fat Controller of yore, but also the word "trucks" has been replaced by "freight cars" or "cars" almost without exception. I've had... 5/5 Jacqueline Shrestha - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Excellent, but beware of old fashioned phrasing

Some of the original stories are included in this volume to show the earlier engines and how each arrived to the station. Very cute little history on each engine. I also liked some of the more difficult phrasing in the book. It is written in an old style that is not popular today in "basic" children's books. Beware however of words like, "stupid" and "hate". These had to be edited out for my younger reader because those terms are not allowed in our household or at school. My 2 1/2 year old "reads" this book. There are quite a few new stories adapted from this version. This is the British version in art and language. There are a lot of words that might be too complex for younger kids, but this will help develop an excellent vocabulary. The art is also vintage style and very lovely. I used a projector to paint some of the images on my son's wall. The only drawback is the book is extremely heavy and the jacket comes off easily. I ended up color-copying some of the... 5/5 sk94 (Alexandria, VA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great Thomas Stories

Like all of us with little boys, Thomas the train is the in thing and he has a bunch of floating around the house. Being 2, my son has had mostly board books, but none of the actual stories by Rev. Awdry they are all based on. I bought this book more for me than him, as I wanted to see and read the stories that started this train empire and childhood obsession. I was pleasantly surprised in this book and think I got a steal for the price, as there are a ton of stories in it, plus original artwork. Each of the stories are short enough that he doesn't lose interest, but we usually only get through one or two per night. (Still not done yet.) He really likes the pictures and gets excited about the adventures, so we have a good time reading them. A few of the stories are a little harsh for some of the train or Sir Topham Hatt reactions, but nothing too bad. Worst has been James getting bricked into a tunnel for refusing to go out in the rain. Spoiler Alert - - He gets out and goes... 5/5 Martin Kollman (Lawrence, KS) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Engaging for toddlers!

5/5 Amazon Customer - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Thomas the Tank Engine's Big Lift-And-look Book (Thomas & Friends) (Board book) This was a huge hit with our Thomas fan. We bought a couple of "lift the flap" books for a road trip we were planning, hoping they might keep him occupied for 5-10 minutes (a veritable lifetime in toddler years). This book kept him happy for an hour. AN HOUR of uninterrupted happy two-year-old. In the car. Strapped into a rear-facing car seat. No snacks, no screaming, no kicking the seat, just happily lifting the flaps and absorbing all the Thomas magic found within. He still loves this book, and while he's torn off several of the flaps, he does feel bad about it. He requests it often, and loves to see what treasures he can find in Sir "Poppemhap's" house, or in the suitcases on the platform. Best book purchase we've made this year :) Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 18, 2015

    Great quality puzzles!

5/5 BrittAnnie19 - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Disney Junior 7 Wood Puzzles In Wooden Storage Box (styles will vary) (Toy) These are great and amazing for the price! You can easily pay that much for one puzzle. I don't understand the negative reviews about the quality. Newsflash: almost all puzzles are cardboard unless you are buying very expensive ones. These are cardboard, but very thick, high quality cardboard. Kids tend to push very hard with puzzle pieces and smaller, flimsier cardboard would bucket, but these are sturdy. The puzzles are also so well made the pieces interlock snug enough to allow to pick up a completed puzzle and have it stay in tact. I'm a huge puzzler and this was always a test to the quality of a piece because it's annoying when they are so lose jostling them and moving them around leads pieces to fall apart. My 3.5 yo can do most of these on her own. There are different size puzzles and we haven't tried the biggest one yet but that means there's room to grow and these would be good for a variety of ages. My 1.5 yo had fun joining us and helping. Very poor quality and boring

The images are cute (although a little redundant) and the pieces are strong and sturdy, but the quality of the puzzles is bad. My 2.5 year old at first loved these puzzles, but after doing them once or twice has never wanted them again. And I don't like them myself, so that's fine by me!Here are the negatives:1) When opening the box, all of the pieces were coated in a dusty sawdust that always leaves a big mess on the table or floor when using the puzzles, even after I cleaned each piece and the box.2) The shapes of the tabs (the part that sticks out where you join the pieces together) are all the same for each piece, meaning you could fit any two pieces together. This means its easy for little ones to make mistakes putting the puzzle together and doesn't teach them that only correct pieces will fit together. It makes doing the puzzle not as educational or fun.3) Each puzzle has been cut exactly the same way. It's like they cut all four puzzles and... 1/5 MMP - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Really great set.

3/5 Matt & Rachel - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Thomas The Tank Engine 4 Pack Wood Puzzles (Toy) These puzzles are great for my four year old.Pros:The puzzles all have a different amount of pieces, which allows for increase or decrease of difficulty. The pieces are wooden and sturdy, so they don't bend and the picture doesn't wear even with regular use. This also makes the final puzzle quite sturdy when assembled, and my son can even pick the completed work up and carry it around without it falling apart.Cons:The box these puzzles came in made absolutely no sense. It was compartmentalized, yet there weren't enough compartments to separate the pieces for all of the individual puzzles. Within the first week, the glue came undone and the sides of the box fell off. Now we have the puzzles separated in small zip-loc bags. The tabs on each piece are all the same size and shape, so unless you keep the different puzzles separated, it can get very confusing for kids as all pieces fit together Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , November 20, 2015

5/5 Laura Sutherland - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Fisher-Price Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway, Happy Birthday - Battery Operated (Toy) Exactly what one would expect from a Thomas wooden railway item - great quality, perfect craftsmanship and amazing detail. The birthday cake lights up when pressed, and plays the Thomas theme song (not Happy Birthday as I sort of expected ...). The cake also comes out of a recessed spot on the flatbed cargo car. It's very exciting that it does come out (the boys love loading cargo), and the recessed spot for it ensures a tight fit. Thomas is decked out with birthday streamers, and is ready to party. All in all, a very special addition to our collection that will be loved for years to come. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , August 17, 2013

5/5 River (NJ) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Fisher-Price Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway, Happy Birthday - Battery Operated (Toy) We bought this Thomas train for my son's friend's 3rd birthday, which was Thomas themed. It is very cute and it plays the Thomas theme song from the birthday cake. I have also purchased the other birthday Thomas wooden train Thomas And Friends Wooden Railway - Happy Birthday Thomas And Box Car for my son's birthday when he was 2 years old. To compare them, the Birthday Cake Thomas plays music, and the Box Car Thomas does not, but I like that the Box Car birthday Thomas comes with stickers to personalize the underside of the car (We put his name and year on the bottom). Both Thomas' are decorated with colorful streamers, but the Cake Thomas is wearing a birthday hat. Hope this helps! Both fit the standard wooden railway and have magnets.
