About this book
When it comes to scale-size motorsport thrills, few hobbies can match the untethered thrills of R/C cars. Whether screaming across the asphalt or bounding over a dirt course, R/C cars offer enthusiasts an ever-increasing level of power, detail, and sophistication. In this volume for veteran and newbie R/C enthusiasts alike, ace hobby writer Robert Schleicher offers a fully illustrated guide to both electric and fuel remote-control vehicles. From selecting the right scale and tending to the power source to tuning the chassis and choosing gear ratios and tires, Schleicher covers all the angles that go into R/C driving. He also considers nitro power, painting and decals, off-road driving techniques, setting up road-race courses in parking lots, and even building off-road courses. Appendices include a glossary and information on clubs, publications, and suppliers.

and the truck bed is molded like tube rails and looks cool

Before buying, I had already made up my mind that I would replace the body because it looked cheesy in these pictures, and I wasn't a fan of the plain red coloring. Having received it, my opinion has completely changed. The body is actually more of a copper metal flake, and the truck bed is molded like tube rails and looks cool. This was just a big surprise and I wanted to note it for future customers - the body is actually pretty cool. The articulation is amazing. The front axle can tilt about 45 degrees one way, the middle axle 45 the other, and the rearmost axle 45 degrees again the opposite. The middle and rearmost axles are not dependent on each other in the suspension. The suspension has a fair amount of adjustment available for ride height and shock position. The tires appear to mount onto more like an 1/8 scale buggy hub, though this is a hub that mounts on a steel core axle, passing through a steering hub that I have heard from other MadTorque (4x4) owners... 5/5 Schlauncha - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) 0 5/5 Ace from vermont.. - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Exceed RC 1/8 scale 6x6 MadTorque Crawler 2.4ghz Ready to Run (Toy) Well after having this 6x6 for about two months now I'm pretty happy. It's large and alot of fun. I would recommend getting steering kits for the rear right away cuz it turns like a bus lol. I got aluminum servo horns as well as this was a weak point on the maxstone 10, overall a great rig for the price 0, February 8, 2015

Good truck, but you will need to upgrade some of the parts as you go.

0 4/5 wayne jarboe - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: 1/8Th Mad Torque Rock Crawler Almost Ready to Run ARTR (Blue) (Toy) A very good mid level cawler for a beginer price. parts are faily cheap, but, often out of stock. I strongly recomend upgrading to metal steering knuckles, as wehave broken several of the plastic ones, before buying metal,So just buy the metal ones. any 1/10 scale Axial SCX10 compatable knuckle will work, perfect fit. If you actualy pound it in the rocks, you will also break driveshafts, I strongly recomend buying a few spair sets, as it is really the only known weakness of the truck. If you dont pound it, they last a long time, but we pound ours, out of 3 trucks, we break at least 1 every 2 weeks or so, sometimes more, rarely less.also strongly recomend a rear steer kit, as these things turn like a bus without it.I personaly recomend a 45 turn motor for a easy speed upgrade, i run them in mine stock gearing and it rules supream over my buddies, ( one with stock 70 turns, and 1 with 55t's in his ) 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 17, 2014

Good starting point for crawler platform

First impression out of the box, This truck is a monster!First impression wile driving, This truck turns like a bus.The first run I made was decent, but with the stock shock position, I found myself high centering in places it really shouldn't have. This is mostly due to the length of this crawler, and the stock location being at its lowest setting. After the first run, I raised the shocks to the highest position, and gained near 2 inches of clearance. Then moved the top of the shock towers to the outside of the frame, because it seemed they binded a little being mounted on the inside as they come stock. I also installed a rear steer kit, that I unfortunately had to order from another site. I also removed the stock radio and installed it to a 6 chan stick radio, to gain independent control over the front and rear steering, as well as a few other nifty things the radio does. The second run was at nite. The built in light system is good,... 4/5 wayne jarboe - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) great car, low price

0 5/5 matt - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: 1/8Th Mad Torque Rock Crawler Ready to Run (Orange) (Toy) i have been wanting to get into the hobby grade RC world for a long time but couldn't really afford to. i found this crawler for under 200 dollars and taught id give it a shot. i was really surprised with the quality of this product. its constructed of mostly aluminum and has held up really well. another great thing is that there are so many upgrade/replacement parts available that when something does eventually wear out i will have no problem replacing it. another thing i want to mention is that all the electronics came fully waterproofed right out of the box! so in conclusion i love this crawler. i have had so much fun with it and would highly recommend it to anyone that is on a budget and still wants a quality RC!!! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , March 24, 2014

    Cool Fun Alert

0 5/5 gary e farnsworth - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: 1/8Th Mad Torque Rock Crawler Ready to Run (Orange) (Toy) I really like this this crawler it's my first one , I'm use to the 1/10 scale so this truck is a monster in comparison . I've only test drove it , but it has awesome power and crawls over iceberg like snow mounds like its a flat surface. I look forward to many hrs of use . Anyone doing this kind of hobby either hardcore or just for fun has to realize if you abuse this truck it may break like anything else, and get a spare battery because nothing last forever . No this crawler is not super fast but has good speed for what it is, if you want fast get stadium truck or a street car . Be smart with your hobby , because this cool big truck is fun . 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , February 13, 2015
