    Pretty, pretty good

0 5/5 Zuby - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Bell Sports 7015913 Bicycle Fix Cable Set (Sports) Pretty good deal. Seriously. $8 for a brand new set of cables, housing, and even a few ferrules and cable tips. That's a LOT of cable for about $9. Check, now its $5.50 at Amazon. Damn good deal! The shift housings are coiled, not compressionless. If you have index shifter (shifters that are numbered), then you might want to look for compressionless shifter cables. If you have friction shifters (levers), you'll be fine. Still, the brake cables are universal, so you are fine in that respect.Just a tip (got from a friend): when you cut the cable, the ends can fray. If you do not have a bicycle cable cutter, what you can do is wrap a small amount (maybe 2-3 turns) of electrical tape around the point you will cut, and then cut the cable with a regular cable cutter, sort of snipping then turning then snipping again. I got a REALLY cut with this tip. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , June 16, 2011

    Hard to beat

0 5/5 JoK=) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Bell Sports 7015913 Bicycle Fix Cable Set (Sports) Great for fixing up the 30 year old Schwinn/Huffy/Ross/Murray that's been gathering dust.Still a pretty good deal for the newer (post 1985) indexed shifting bikes. In these bikes the brake cables will work fine, but the shift cables might be fussy. (Technical explanation : both the brake and gear cable housings in this set are tight spiral wound. Modern gear cable housing is loose spiral wound (100 mm period ), often called compression-less or constant-length. Some gear shifters will behave erratically with the Bell cable housing. Solution: buy a roll of Shimano SIS shift housing cable ... you can still use the Bell cables.)I've had no problems with Shimano indexed systems including Ultegra 10 , Dura Ace 9, and Deore XT. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , April 21, 2012

    Works pretty well

These cables and housings aren't perfect, but they work pretty darn well. I replaced the all the cables on one bike, the rear brake and rear derailleur cables on another, and the front derailleur cable on yet another using these cables. So far, so good. The brakes are working better than ever. The housing condenses just a tad when the cable is being pulled, so my rear derailleur skips 1st gear, but I'm fine with that. All the other gears work, why do I need first? The front derailleur cable I replaced on a friend's bike seems to be working fine too. A word of advice: lube the inside of these cable housings. if you don't there's a bit more friction than one is ok with in a bike cable. I just drip some motor oil in there before I run the wires through them and it works like a charm. Put them on over a month ago and everything is still working as smooth as ever! :D I used these to fix two Giant boulder mountain bikes, and one Schwinn Mesa. All three had rapid fire / click-style gear... 5/5 Sean89us - See all my reviews This review is from: Bell Sports 7015913 Bicycle Fix Cable Set (Sports) These cables and housings aren't perfect, but they work pretty darn well. Great Commuting Bike

I have around a 2 mile commute back and forth from home and work depending on my route with a total of 8 miles (including back and forth for lunch) and have waited a few months to write a review. So far I've put about 500 miles on this bike in the past 2 months. This bike is definitely solid. I had no problems with scratches, gouges, or striped pedals or anything like that during assembly. I haven't had a single problem with the inner tubes either, aside from the normal tire pressure drop after a couple weeks. I used to do this commute with a department store mountain bike and have made my ride extremely easier. The bike is pretty light from my experience of bikes, I haven't any top of the line road bikes or anything like that but for my purposes this thing is perfect. The paint does scratch when locking it against the a rack or having other bikes hit it but if your really nit picky about scratches, the only way your going to avoid scratching any bike is if you don't... 5/5 dTonaz - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Decent value, but be warned...

I'd really like to be able to write a more glowing review, but there are some serious ground floor issues with this bike, which, once taken care of, lead to a good commuter ride.First, I should mention that before buying this I shopped on line for quite a while. I really would have liked to have gotten one of the Bigshot bikes, but since I'm 5'11" and they don't make a 58 cm, there weren't any sizes from them I thought would be maximally comfortable in. Bikesdirect.com had some decent SS/fixies, but I don't like the curved fork on the Motobecane/Windsors or the fact that they only came with rear brakes. Plus I liked the thicker rims. The Vilanos looked cheap and places like State Bike seemed a little more expensive, so I went with the purefix which, at 325, was about 100 dollars less than state or bigshot. As other reviewers have noted, the Kenda Kwest tires are absolute garbage. I had the exact same problem as another guy with the tires popping off the rim... 3/5 David M Aleksic - See all my reviews This review is from: Pure Fix Cycles Fixed Gear Single Speed Urban Fixie Road Bike (Sports) I'd really like to be able to write a more glowing review, but there are some serious ground floor issues with this bike, which, once taken care of, lead to a good commuter ride.First, I should mention that before buying this I shopped on line for quite a while. Unsatisfied. Bent dropouts, bent seatpost.

I'm giving this one star because in my 15+ years building BMX bikes and making the switch over to single speeds I've never seen a frame in this bad condition. I really tried hard to make a few things work, but after no luck I gave up and this will be sitting collecting dust.First the rear right dropouts were bent. Top portion of the dropout was bent outwards, while the bottom was straight. Which I would have been able to bend backwards, but the dropout opening must have not been welded on correctly because the opening would not allow the 3/8" axle to fit in. I measured it to be slightly under 1/4". After some filing of the drop out I finally was able to get the rear wheel on with some pressure to fit through the smaller opening after my modification. After all this work, the rear wheel wouldn't align straight. It would be centered between the seat stays, but off to the left on the chain stays. Something is starting to tell me I have a bent, or improperly welded... 1/5 Jason Gourley - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Everything you need is there

I purchased the white and black colors for this bike in medium. Going in order:Shipment/Receiving:The bike was shipped very well. At first sight you would think the box would way a ton, but it wasn't bad at all. Almost everything was zip-tied to the bike frame which ensured every party would be in the box. There was sufficient light foam padding and cardboard around the parts of the bike that needed it. It was also packed neatly and organized. Everything was in the box, but i have read some of the reviews stating they were missing a few parts here and there.Build:I'm no bike expert, but i do know how to maintain and change things on my bikes so the build wasn't bad at all for me considering the bike was practically built already. So, i had my brother build it (who knows barely anything about bikes except for ride and stop). He built it perfectly fine with the tools provided and without instructions, however there is a video online instructing you... 3/5 Patrick - See all my reviews This review is from: Critical Cycles Fixed Gear Single Speed Fixie Urban Road Bike (Sports) I purchased the white and black colors for this bike in medium. Awesome bike!!!

Single Handedly the best single-speed bicycle in this price range withfantastic components, A+ packaging, and amazing color options.Flip Flop Hub: This gives you the option to ride fixed or freewheel and very easy to switch from one to the other. I like riding fixed-gear personally, but it can get really tiring because your feet are moving a lot, so sometimes I switch to freewheel and then it rides like a normal cruiser.Tires: Really good quality. I've put a good 100 city miles on mine. Many pot holes, cracks, curbs, skids, bar-spins, no problems at all.Frame: The frame can bar spin and there is no toe overlap. The geometry is perfect, and the frame is surprisingly light for this price range. I've paid over $500 for my last fixie which was heavier.Handlebars: It's my first time having BMX style handlebars and I am really happy with them. I actually prefer them by far for city ridingbecause they come a little bit higher... 5/5 A. Schondorf - See all my reviews, July 24, 2012

0 5/5 amazonstateofmind - See all my reviews This review is from: Pure Fix Cycles Fixed Gear Freestyle Trick Bike (FGFS), One Size (Sports) I don't think I've ever written a review for something, despite how much I enjoy the product. The Pure Fix Bogey has prompted me to change that. I've been riding bikes since I was a kid and have owned my fair share of bikes, this pure fix has by far been my favorite. It combines a smooth street ride with the potential of being rugged and withstanding rough terrain. It's definitely a multipurpose bike. It's definitely a bargain. I recommend this bike to anyone for any purpose, knowing full well that once you ride it you'll fall in love with it the same way I did. GO get it, ride freely. ENJOY.P.S. The assembly was no sweat I read some reviews here and don't understand the complaint. I mean it's pretty much completely assembled when it arrives. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , October 3, 2013

This review is from: Pure Fix Cycles Fixed Gear Freestyle Trick Bike (FGFS), One Size (Sports) I'm not a Freestyle rider; bought this bike for a special project, for some custom 20" rims & IGH, and needed a bike with a high bottom bracket. It's worked out well for me; build quality seems pretty good for the money. My LBS was pretty shocked by how heavy-duty the wheels are and seemed pretty impressed by the whole package. This would be a good alternative to a SS mountainbike, for using around town and on dirt/gravel roads. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , March 24, 2014
