    Works

0 4/5 Taz (NJ USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Forney 46111 Easy Flo Brazing Rod, 1/8-Inch-by-18-Inch, 1/2-Pound (Tools & Home Improvement) It does work as described, however, it takes somewhat more heat that you might expect - definitely more than typical copper solder. I managed to melt one 1/4" aluminum rod I was trying to braze before I learned to control the heat (aluminum has no color change). The product is also only marginally self-fluxing, so I was really glad that I bought some aluminum flux along with it - without it, most of my joints failed. Once you get flux on the parts and get them properly heated, it sticks well and is ultimately stronger than the aluminum (more importantly, it is rather inflexible). Overall, very useful. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , March 22, 2013

This review is from: Forney 47300 Bare Brass Gas Brazing Rod, 1/8-Inch-by-18-Inch, 10-Rods (Tools & Home Improvement) Double check melting temperature!!! The melting point is more than twice was is mention in the description. If you zoom in on the package label, the melting point is 1,620F which is much higher. That may have no impact for some of you but it could make a big difference for some. Amazon, will accept the return, but I just hope to save people some trouble until the description is changed. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , November 4, 2014

This review is from: Forney 47300 Bare Brass Gas Brazing Rod, 1/8-Inch-by-18-Inch, 10-Rods (Tools & Home Improvement) Arrived promptly, thanks. Rods are made in China, like almost everything else these days. I used one rod for ornamental use, and have not tried to braze anything yet, so the jury is still out on the metallurgical quality. Diameters and lengths are as advertised and they are clean and bright. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 19, 2013

This review is from: Bernzomatic NS3 Nickel-Silver Flux Coated Brazing/Welding Rods, 2-Piece (Tools & Home Improvement) Teamed with a MAP gas torch, a handy way for an occasional repair of small fab job by a handyman or home owner. Great for infrequent small jobs, but an expensive way to buy brazing rod. Much cheaper when purchased from a welding shop in 1 lb (or greater) quantities, but great for an infrequent need or small job. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , July 10, 2010

    Wonderful material brazes many materials

Several years ago I was in a welding store looking over all the brazing rods. I had not seen these rods before and asked if they were worth their higher price. I was told that I could almost braze anything with these except aluminum. I have found that I can braze small plated parts and today I brazed some beaters (for a mixer) whose rivet had loosened and they were spinning on the shaft. This brazing material is nickel colored and looked nice on the beaters. You have to use a pretty hot mapp gas torch--my current favorite for brazing work is .This torch was barely hot enough for the beater repair -- it did the job and after a little wet and dry sand paper to take the slag off of the beaters and a little jeweler's rouge on a buffer to polish them, they looked very... 5/5 Wood worker and techy guy (San Francisco Bay Area, CA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Bernzomatic NS3 Nickel-Silver Flux Coated Brazing/Welding Rods, 2-Piece (Tools & Home Improvement) Several years ago I was in a welding store looking over all the brazing rods.
