    Did not work for me

1/5 Amazon Customer - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: ALUMALOY 10 Rods: Aluminum REPAIR Rods No Welding Fix Cracks Drill Tap Polish or Paint (Misc.) This product did not work at all. I tried to repair a broken flange on an aluminum transmission case with it. The rods barely melted when using a propane torch. I tried an oxy-acetylene torch and was able to get the material to flow & puddle, however it never bonded to the aluminum case. I tried several times, cleaned the parts to be repaired extensively, never had any success. I could not recommend this product for cast aluminum repairs. Works

4/5 Taz (NJ USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Forney 46111 Easy Flo Brazing Rod, 1/8-Inch-by-18-Inch, 1/2-Pound (Tools & Home Improvement) It does work as described, however, it takes somewhat more heat that you might expect - definitely more than typical copper solder. I managed to melt one 1/4" aluminum rod I was trying to braze before I learned to control the heat (aluminum has no color change). The product is also only marginally self-fluxing, so I was really glad that I bought some aluminum flux along with it - without it, most of my joints failed. Once you get flux on the parts and get them properly heated, it sticks well and is ultimately stronger than the aluminum (more importantly, it is rather inflexible). Overall, very useful. Works great when it sticks.

3/5 MadMatt - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Forney 46111 Easy Flo Brazing Rod, 1/8-Inch-by-18-Inch, 1/2-Pound (Tools & Home Improvement) I've never welded, but I have done a lot of soldering. So when I needed to join a bunch of square aluminum tubing, I thought this might fit the bill. Firstly, You must get this hot! Use something like mapp gas. Surfaces must be clean. After about 4 hours of messing with this on about 10 joints I gave up. Only about 2 or 3 of my joints held. The rest fell apart. I don't know if this was because of the aluminum surface not being clean enough. What I can say is that the joints that did hold were great. Stronger than the aluminum itself. I tested those good joints with a hammer and the aluminum broke before the joint. So maybe it was my inexperience, maybe it was something else. But this just didn't work for me. I ended up re-cutting all of my pieces and bolting them together. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , November 5, 2016
